Sometimes I do need a lift. 

Going through a difficult time is very hard

When someone you love is hurting.

Sometimes I do need a lift.

"friends" may come and go,

a REAL friend stays by your side.

Sometimes I do need a lift.

That real friend will come up to you,

draw you in,

hold you,

as the tears cascade

not only yours

but theirs as well.

I feel lifted.

When that real friend cries with you,

Laughs with you,

Shares with you,

Hears you out,

Listens to you with their heart,

Acknowledges that nobody is perfect,

and loves you as you do with them.

I feel gifted to have a friend like you...
